Donate now to empower families on their journey to independence. Lindsey House provides a home for today and hope for the future.
In today’s economy, situational homelessness can affect anyone. Unexpected illness, a loss or change of employment, an emergency car repair, increased cost of living, or broken relationships — any of these can result in a family losing its home.
Lindsey House provides long-term shelter and supportive services to women caring for children. Every child deserves a place to call home. Every mother should feel good about her ability to meet the basic needs of her children.
If you love to shop, please consider purchasing items for Lindsey House off of our wish list. These items are things we continuously use at Lindsey House, so our need for them does not go away. We also need:
By becoming an apartment sponsor, you will make a home for a family. Apartment Sponsors not only open the door to TLC’s Lindsey House, but they also provide support, encouragement, and connection during a family’s stay. Each Lindsey House apartment is adopted by a church, Sunday School class, civic club, business, or a group of friends and family. Sponsors remodel and furnish the apartment, and stock the apartment with one week’s worth of food.
During a family’s stay at Lindsey House, sponsors have the opportunity to welcome the family to their new home, receive a quarterly update on their progress, and interact with the family at events such as our Christmas party. At different times we will ask sponsors to help with items such as backpacks for school and a basket at Thanksgiving. The sponsor also assists with ongoing minor repairs or small apartment related needs that arise.
After successfully completing program requirements, a family may need some help setting up their new, permanent home. They are able to take some things from their apartment with them such as sheets, pots and pans, and kitchen utensils. The sponsor would then replace the items and prepare the apartment for the next family! Most sponsors refurbish and update apartments once or twice a year.
